Fonted -Bitmap Font Editor
By Holger Zahnleiter
Abstract
Fonted is a simple bitmap font editor. I had the need to create my own bitmap fonts for my vintage computing projects (Serial Terminal).
Fonted should be portable as it is built with C++ on Dear ImGui and openGL. (However, I only tested on macOS and Linux.)
In addition to pixel editing, one can also import/export binary bitmap fonts. This way fonts dumped from original character ROMs can be made editable. Selfmade fonts can be exported to binary and burned into ROMs for genuine vintage computers or newly built vintage-like computers.
The project dependencies are managed by Conan. The project can be build with CMake.
An accompanying Makefile
contains convenient targets to manage the dependencies, build the executable and conduct unit tests.
Visit Fonted’s Git repository for more details.
