Computers 'N Robots
Content
My homepage "Computers 'n Robos" is about my favourite hobbies: building and programming electronic circuits, computers and robots. If you have never visited my homepage before you may find this page help you to navigate thru my homepage.
On the left you will find a menu which offers the items expained below. Choose an item by clicking at it (link).
Projects
If you clicked the item "Projects", several projects I have done will be listed sorted by three categories. Those are: "Software", "Hardware" and "Robots". Choose the project you are interested in.
All projects are described using the same schema and layout. The description contains the following information:
- Short description,
- Schematic figure/diagram,
- Pictures/screenshots
- Related links (web ressources),
- Related documents (electronic documents)
- Related literature
- and download stuff.
The page offers a brief introduction only. If the project seems interesting to you, download the project documentation. In general the documentation is a much more detailed PDF document. Please download documentation, source and executable separately.
For Dummies
In the know how section For Dummies (I consider my self a dummy) I try to explain some basic techniques and the much more rudimentary stuff. Keep in mind that I am not an engineer in electronics. My explanations are meant to help me and other hobbyist to build simple circuits. Therefore the For Dummies section also contains an article about the pinout of some widely used electronic components and connectors.
Sometimes I receive emails questioning how to do something. I take this as a reason to add a new article in this section trying to give the answer desired.
Forum
This is a direct link to a german robot forum. Postings written in other languages (english) are welcome, too. The forum is hosted by Alexander Wiedekind-Klein which also owns the Roboterwelt homepage (www.roboterwelt.de).
Computer Collection
Click on the "Computers" link an a list of the computers I am owning will be displayed. Click on the computer you are interested in and a brief description and some photos of the computer will appear. There are lots of pages which do a much better job on telling about homecomputer history and technology. My page is meant to show my computers and other items to get in contact with other collectors. But it is planned to add much more information to this section of my page. There will be manuals for download, a list containing current prices for classic computers etc. Below the menu item "Computers" you will find three more menu items dedicated to retro computing.
- "By manufacturer" displays a list of my collected items sorted by manufacturers (Apple, Atari, Commodore, etc.).
- "By system" gives a list of my collected items ordered by system (IIe, C64, VIC-20, ...).
- "By category" lists my collected computer items by category/function (computer, console, printer, cartridge, etc.).
Resources
The menu contains a block of menu items which will lead you to resources such as bibliography, net resources, downloadable files and suppliers.
Common to the whole page is that the page is dedicated to a view topics. Those are robots, microcontrollers (MPU) and CPUs, retro computing, Gameboy programming, etc. So all the references (literature, links, etc.) are ordered by those topics/categories.
Literature
This will bring up a list of books which I own and which I do refer to when executing my projects or writing the articles for the Dummy section. The books are sorted by category. The categories are "Computer Science", "Classic Computers", "Electronics", etc. Within each category the books are ordered by author.
Links
Many interesting and helpful pages are listed in this section.
Suppliers
When I started building robots or programming the Gameboy I had to learn that it is not always easy to get all the components needed. So this section list several suppliers where to get components for your robot or a cartridge programmer for your Gameboy.
Downloads
This section centralizes all downloadable files spread over the several pages of my homepage project. You could download my source (code, wiring diagrams), executables and documentation. Datasheets and handbooks are available, too.
